The Story Behind Beachpouf

It started the way a lot of great ideas do; on a beautiful beach day that wasn’t actually comfortable at all.

Last summer, my sister and I were sitting in our beach chairs, soaking up the sun, enjoying everything about the day, except for the constant shifting, adjusting, and overall discomfort. We even dragged the cooler over just to prop our feet up for a few minutes of relief.

At one point, my sister pulled out an old plastic footrest she had from years ago. It seemed like it might help, but it quickly became more frustrating than useful. It was hard, flimsy, and constantly tipped over. We’d tried other options before too, like chairs with built-in footrests, but those were bulky, jammed with sand, and just added more hassle.

Out of frustration, I joked that I was going to bring a pillow to the beach the next day and fill it with sand so I could finally have something soft and stable to rest my feet on.

So the next day, we showed up with pillows.
We filled them with sand.
We sat down.
We put our feet up.
And then we just… looked at each other.

It was one of those rare, instant moments. No adjusting. No shifting. No frustration. Just immediate, undeniable comfort. We were genuinely shocked at how much of a difference it made. Of course, our first thought was: this must already exist. We went home and searched. And searched. And searched some more. Nothing.

That was the moment Beachpouf was born.

What started as a simple “why doesn’t this exist?” turned into a full year of sketching, designing, testing, and refining. We partnered with manufacturers, created prototypes, and obsessed over every detail to make sure it was not only functional, but something you’d actually want to bring to the beach. And now, we’re so excited to finally share it. Because sometimes the best ideas aren’t complicated. They’re just the ones that make you wonder how you ever went without them.
